The Athlone Traditional Irish Music Academy was set up by Carol Behan and Gerry Harrington who recognised that there was great interest learning traditional music but very few teachers.

 

It is located  at The Moore Community Centre, Ballydangan, Athlone. The ethos of the school is to teach music using a progressive, organic, enjoyable and informative method.

Gerry Harrington runs fiddle classes from his home. "Classes are held where I live in the scenic  cottage of renowned flute player and composer Josie McDermot."

 

There is traditional music associated with the house going back a long time and it is Gerrys ambition to keep traditional Irish Fiddle playing alive and well in this historich house in lovely Roscommon.
